RSS (Real Simple Syndication)
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. You choose a website which you want to keep up with and enter its link in a so-called RSS reader. The reader then collects all new messages posted on the website. This allows you to track multiple websites at once. A useful reader to use is Feedly. There are also RSS readers for your phone, such as Feedpod for the iPhone.

Subject guides
When acquainting yourself with a subject, you could use subject guides like DMOZ Open Directory Project. Here, you will find information classified into various categories. In other words, you don’t search using a specific search term, but browse through subjects which you find interesting. This is very useful for orientation on a subject, e.g. at the beginning of your search for information.
